The Bonanza Mine: An Artifact-Filled Mine Untouched for Years! (Part 1 of 2)
Part 2 is now out! You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/1Oi03VK9iz0
In this video, you’ll see the most incredible mine featured on my channel so far. Not only is the Bonanza Mine absolutely massive, it is also packed full of historic artifacts. One area of the mine, a stope right below the 200 level, took our breath away. It was packed full of old bottles, cans, tools, and even a fully functional ore car! It really looked as though the miners just got up and walked away. After entering this room it became apparent that no one has been here for a long time, possibly even decades. As we continued down farther into the mine, the artifacts did not stop!
How does a mine like this even exist in this day and age? These artifacts are here simply because of how challenging and dangerous this mine is to enter. The main shaft is caved in, requiring a dangerous route to get into stable workings. Unfortunately, I will not be showing the outside of this mine or how we got inside. I believe this is necessary to protect this extraordinary time capsule. I also am not going to give a lengthy history write-up on this mine, as I don’t want to reveal it’s location. From the artifacts left inside, it looks like this mine was heavily worked in the 1930’s, but historically, the mine is much older. I would also like to say that we had no idea all of these artifacts would be in here, or if we could actually make it inside. In this case perseverance paid off, big time.
In Part 2, we continue down even farther into the Bonanza Mine. Spoiler alert: This mine stays just as awesome as it did in Part 1!
A special thanks to Xavier for not only joining me in this exploration, but also for helping me film the various shots of the ore car. Xavier also has a great mine exploring youtube channel. You can check it out and subscribe to it right here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Ercole746
