I lived in the middle of nowhere. There were no hotels, major brands, or any other fun activities close to where I lived. As you can expect, it got pretty boring. The only fun activities were playing cricket out on the field, or going over to a friend's house. But you can only do that so many times before it starts to get repetitive and boring. So, my friends and I decided we needed to do something new. We needed to go on our own little adventure. We decided it would be fun to hike out in the wilderness, up in the mountains, and after persuading our parents for ages, and after we promised to behave and stay safe, they finally said yes.

It was the school holidays, so we had plenty of time to enjoy the wilderness. First, we packed all our clothes and belongings, as well as some food. There was a lake nearby to where we were camping, so we could also fish ourselves some dinner when we got there. I also brought my camera, because I wanted to make sure to capture this memory, cos I knew we were about to have a load of fun. What I didn't know though, was that I was about to record a video that would turn me into a millionaire. But, more on that later.

My friends and I got our stuff ready, and my mom picked us all up in her car and drove us out to the camping spot. We were going far out into the wilderness, so as we drove, the terrain got more and more bumpy. It was so bumpy that some of our bags fell out of the boot of the car, and we had to go back and collect them. By the way, make sure you remember that. It'll be really important as we go deeper into the story.

Anyway, eventually we got to the campsite, and my mom said goodbye and drove off. My friends and I were so excited. We were alone! We could do whatever we want. We didn't have any parents to tell us off, or to make us go to bed. We could stay up all night if we wanted to!

Straight off the bat we got our camping gear together and started setting up the tents. The landscape around us was really flat, and was more of a desert than a mountain range. But it was still really beautiful, and by the time we had completed setting up the tents, it was coming down to nightfall.

We were only staying there for two nights - since our parents didn't trust us to be alone for that long - so we wanted to make the most of the time we had left. We got out marshmallows, set up a fire, and started to sing a bunch of songs while I played the guitar. It was so fun.

But then we heard something. A loud bang. It sounded like machinery. Or maybe even some sort of animal. Then another sound appeared, even louder than before, and this time it sounded just like the growl of a lion. It made me jump out of my skin, and we huddled together, trembling with fear.

"Are there any lions here?" I asked nervously.

"Of course not, you idiot." said Jack, though he sounded scared too.

"There could be mountain lions." I said.

"Oh, right. Yeah, I forgot about that."

We sat trembling in the dark for what seemed like hours but was probably only a few minutes. Finally, I built up the courage to stand up.

"We should go see what it was. It sounded like it was coming from that direction." I pointed to the east.

"No way!" said Jack. "You said it yourself. There could be mountain lions."
