Khanyisa enjoys a new bush walk with the herd & Lundi close-by (Special Zindoga & Mambo moments)
Enjoy a new adventure through the reserve with Khanyisa and her herd!
Khanyisa starts her day with Lammie at the nursery, as the sun slowly rises. She takes it easy and slow, while the herd wait for her, and heads out with Adine and carer, Godknows, stopping for a snack and a dung sniff along the way. Then she speeds up a little, through the open gate to greet her adoptive family! Khanyisa's "mom", Lundi and the herd Matriarch, Tokwe welcome her and Limpopo soon moves in to greet her too from behind. Khanyisa latches onto Lundi's teat and then it's a dance of trunks and tusks and legs, with the little calf in the centre of the activity.
Adine and Tigere plan the day ahead while elephants reconnect with the little calf and then it's off, into the bush! Khanyisa walks between Lundi and Kumbura and breaks into a little "hardloop" - a run! She walks ahead and then waits for Lundi to pass her so that she can follow in her adoptive Mom's footsteps!
Some of the elephants slip their trunks up into the air, reading their surroundings. They arrive at the dam to a beautiful serene morning scene, with the mountains in the background. A peaceful although cold morning in the African bush!
Khanyisa follows Lundi to the dam and shares a moment with allomother, Bubi. The females enjoy time together by the water's edge, with Kumbura coming in to greet Adine.
Watch Fishan pass by, a tall and stately older bull, and in the distance, the young bulls, Mambo and Zindoga jostle as always! They're in a particularly playful mood on this walk and continue to tussle throughout the journey! The herd leave the dam after a drink and rest, revealing their always fascinating walking style, with Sebakwe, the dominant bull leading from behind.
