2. *USB to TTL/FTDI adapter* $2 - only for first upload
3. *5V USB cable* for power

*Flash it - 5 steps:*
1. Arduino IDE → File → Preferences → Add `https://dl.espressif.com/dl/package_esp32_index.json`
2. Tools → Board → ESP32 Arduino → *AI Thinker ESP32-CAM*
3. File → Examples → ESP32 → Camera → *CameraWebServer*
4. Change `ssid` and `password` to your WiFi
5. GPIO0 to GND → Upload → Remove wire → Reset. Open Serial Monitor for IP address.

*Done*: Put IP in browser = live video stream on your phone/PC.

*3. Mount it right*
1. *Case*: Hot glue it inside any small box. Cut a hole for the lens.
2. *Power*: Any phone charger + microUSB cable.
3. *Position*: Point at your 3D printer, plants, or garage. Keep it visible.
4. *SD card*: Put a microSD in the slot if you want it to save video locally.

*4. Upgrade in 2 min*
1. *Motion detection*: Use `ESP32-CAM-MJPEG2SD` GitHub code instead. Records only when things move.
2. *Night vision*: Swap lens for "IR cut" version + add 2x 850nm IR LEDs.
3. *View anywhere*: Install Tailscale on your phone + another device at home = secure remote access.

*Legal + Safety Must-Knows*
1. *Only record your own property* and spaces where people don’t expect privacy.
2. *No bathrooms, bedrooms, guest areas* without clear consent. That’s illegal in most states/countries.
3. *Audio is stricter than video* — many places require 2-party consent. Disable mic if unsure.
4. *Tell people* if they’re on camera. A small sign solves a lot of problems.
