Using the Canon A-1 in Each Photographic Mode -- PASM
I neglected to record this in my original Canon A-1 videos -- a MAJOR oversight on my part. Here is a video showing how to shoot in each of the Canon A-1's photographic modes.
Aperture Value -- Set the lens to "A" and adjust the aperture by way of the selector dial on the camera's body. The camera will stop down the lens appropriately and automatically calculate the appropriate shutter speed.
Time Value -- Set the lens to "A" and then adjust the shutter speed on the camera's body by way of the selection dial. The camera will automatically select the appropriate aperture.
Program -- Set the lens to "A" and the selector dial to "Program" (next to 1/1,000th when the camera is set to Time Value.) The camera then selects the best aperture and shutter speed based on a pre-designed exposure value curve programmed (hence the name) into the camera's circuitry.
Full Manual -- Take the lens off "A" and set the selector dial to Time Value. Using the light meter, set the aperture and shutter speed appropriately. This mode allows extensive creative control and is very useful in creative photography.
