Aperture Blade stuck: how to canon fd 50mm quick hack
aperture blades stuck in Canon FD 50mm F1.4 SSC lens. This video shows a quick way to release the stuck blades and have the aperture ring working as supposed to. its pretty easy. all you need is a pointed object to depress a lever below the silver breech that would have the bayonet flanges free to move. if this repair or simple hack as i would call it doesn’t work out, then you might have to check how your fd lens adapter is mounted or dissemble the vintage fd lens to clean the aperture blades.

aperture blades stock means the aperture ring doesn't rotate leaving the lens stock at a single aperture like f1.4 or f11.
although you may be able to still use the lens anyway, And there will be a time
when I want to use A different aperture like , f4, f 8 or even f16 to have everything in front of my lens in focus. So
I just have to repair the broken Lens. before you decide to dissemble the lens, you might want to do this first.
The silver ring or breech lock is sliding over a depressed lever.
Now as long as the lever is down, The bayonet flanges would movable and the aperture blades would also move in correspondence with the setting aperture.
There is a cut beneath this silver ring, on the part where the red dot is.
when the lever gets to that cut, it gets released to fit that cut which in turn, blocks the movement of the aperture blade.
So when the lever press back down and the sliver ring is twisted in a way to get the lever away from the fitting, the bayonet flanges begins move and so should the aperture blades.
Sometimes the blades may no work if your adapter is not properly fixed
Like not having the adapter lock activated. so don't forget to always twist you fd adapter into its lock position .
activating the adapters lock makes a bar in the adapter to push the bayonet flange close to it a little to the right.
That little push is what is needed to get the blades respond to your aperture change.
If the level is depressed and the adapter lock is activated , then the lens should "honours" the setting of the aperture ring.
Is it doesn’t
Then you probably would have to dissemble the lens and have it cleaned.
