About the song:
This song was written in 1988 during a protracted phase of teaching (Natural Science), studying (philosophy, religion, science), and creative exploration (drawing, photography, video).

I recorded it recently (2024) using a handheld digital recorder (with audio dubbing and mixing done on Audacity). The track is acoustic, low-fi, and unmastered. I added the bridge verse in 2023.

The repeated line 'happy who the riddle reads', and, the final verse were adapted from the 'Hermetic Emerald Tablet' (aka 'Tabula Smaragdina', Latin, from the Arabic: لَوْح الزُّمُرُّذ, Lawḥ al-zumurrudh), a mystical-alchemical text attributed to the legendary Hellenistic figure Hermes Trismegistus (though is possibly drawn from a later 8th or 9th-Century Arabic text).
