Live Editing Sessions - Capture One 30th September 2021 (14.4 Export Tab, Exposure Masks, Keystone)
In today's session we begin by looking at the latest release of Capture One Pro 21 - 14.4.
In this release, along with improvements to catalog speed, magic brush usability and camera support (Sigma and Fuji tethering), there is also the re-introduction of the Export Tab (That also previously contained "Process Recipes") and the ability to control the export queue while still working.
We then look at a question from Joe - as to how the exposure values work on layers that are stacked. With the painful halving-and-doubling maths, we look at the effects of solid and gradient layers that are placed on top of each other and how the values are additive, not multiplied.
We then use Joe's image of a barn in the mist to show how reducing contrast can also help shift focus to the area of the image we want the viewer to see first. Using a mix of contrast adjustments and negative dehaze, we deliver that - along with a change to the brightness of the barn window using Magic Brush and levels, in a way that remains variable in future.
Moving to Alf's waterfall shot, we look at how bringing too much detail to the viewer can be a distraction - so a very different crop and approach are used. Shifting the focus away from adding colour in the water, we use radial masks and local clarity to add some punch to the subject while losing less interesting areas of the image.
Finally, we load up Bob's beach shot - with distinctive horizontal bands that aren't quite level due to perspective distortion. The keystone tool fixes this straight away, and some tweaks to colour balance finish the shot off nicely.

Join us live, for an hour of interactive raw editing with your own photographs and images in Capture One Pro.
We recommend requesting the HD option in Chrome via YouTube for full 1440p screen captures.
A trimmed replay will be available in our Facebook Group and YouTube channel following the live stream. (But give those systems a couple of hours to publish the trimmed version!)

Recorded using Capture One Pro 21 (14.4) on an Apple Mac Pro 16-core Xeon running Big Sur with 192GB memory, 2x Radeon Pro Vega II Graphics cards and 4TB SSD.
And don't forget, the discussion continues on our Behind The Scenes Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PaulReifferLive/
