In Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006), Borat Sagdiyev (Sacha Baron Cohen) — Kazakhstan's least qualified journalist — travels across America making a documentary. Along the way, he meets many colorful characters. But one group confuses him more than any other: homosexuals.

During an earlier scene, Borat attends a gay pride parade and meets two friendly, flamboyant men. They invite him to join their RV, where they play cards, drink, and laugh together. Borat, oblivious to their sexuality, treats them as normal American friends. He even poses for photos with them, completely unaware of what "gay" means 🏳️‍🌈😅.

Later, back in a formal interview setting — presumably seated in front of a camera for his documentary — Borat finally processes what happened. The realization hits him like a brick. His face contorts in confusion and horror. He turns to his producer Azamat (Ken Davitian) and delivers one of the film's most perfectly timed punchlines:

"You telling me the man who try to put a rubber fist in my anus was a homosexual?" 😨🤯

Azamat, equally clueless and horrified, nods.

The scene is peak Borat comedy: the joke isn't on the gay men — it's on Borat's backward, bigoted worldview. He spent an entire evening with them, laughing and drinking, completely unaware of what was happening. Only later, in the sterile safety of an interview chair, does he connect the dots. The humor comes from his delayed reaction, his innocent confusion, and the sheer absurdity of his question. Borat doesn't hate homosexuals because he's been taught to — he's just genuinely, childishly confused by the whole concept. And that confusion is both hilarious and strangely innocent. 🎯😂
