How You're Timing Cherry Blossoms in NYC Perfectly in 2026

Spring in New York City during Cherry Blossom season is one of the prettiest times of the year.

I’ve been chasing the blooms in the city for years, so I know a thing or two when it comes to finding the best photo spots.

According to the New York City Parks Department, the three most common types across the city are Okame, Yoshino, and Kwanzan.

The flowers go through various stages from buds to their final bloom over approximately one week, but the peak bloom can occur overnight.

If you want to catch them at their fullest, you need to be ready!

- Magnolias: Mid to late March
- Pink and White Yoshino Cherry Blossoms: Late March to late April
- Japanese flowering cherry “kwanzan” or “kanzan” blossoms: Mid-April to late May
