The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (Catedral Basílica de Santiago de Compostela)

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (Catedral Basílica de Santiago de Compostela) has historically been a place of Christian pilgrimage on the Way of St. James since the Early Middle Ages, marking the traditional end of the route.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands as one of Europe’s most important cultural and spiritual landmarks.

The building is primarily Romanesque, with later Gothic and Baroque additions.

This cathedral is the reputed burial place of Saint James the Great, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ, and is among the few remaining churches in the world built over an apostle’s tomb.
