USA: PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BOB DOLE FALLS OFF CAMPAIGN PLATFORM

U-S Presidential candidate Bob Dole is resting comfortably in a hotel room in Las Vegas after suffering a nasty fall from a campaign platform.

He was leaning on a railing in Chico, California when it collapsed and he plunged to the ground.

Dole has some redness in his left eye, but a doctor says he's fine.

His Democratic opponents may say he's headed for a fall -- but they probably didn't have this in mind.

Bob Dole was on the campaigning platform in Chico, California when a railing gave way, sending the Presidential hopeful tumbling to the ground.

Seen from this view, the fall looked quite hard.

But, in the best tradition of seasoned politicians, Dole was quickly up and brushing off the dust.

Smiling broadly, he retook the platform and continued his campaign against drugs.

A doctor said later that he had some redness in one eye -- but that he was not seriously damaged by the fall.
