“I Loved Her for a While” – song by Jason Mashak

On the 40th birthday of my 1981 Gibson Les Paul XR-2, I decided to try an old song that I wrote on an acoustic then recorded on a Telecaster with the band Seldomfence during the Soft Explosion album sessions in Portland, Oregon, circa 1999 or 2000.

It’s a simple song structurally speaking and sounds much better with a full band (especially with that soft ‘70s electric piano sound), but I’ve always liked the lyrics for telling a story – whose story, I’ve no idea.
