1970 Hoover Electric Central Heating Boiler - How it works Ian Puddick BBC Rogue Traders Expert

We are London's largest installer of domestic electric central heating and hot water boilers, this is only the 2nd time i have come across a Hoover (yes the vacuum company) electric boiler.
Its very crude technology, the boiler contains about 140 thermal bricks which are heated up via small electrical elements overnight, a copper coil of pipe runs through the bricks and heat is transferred from the bricks to the coil and then through to the radiators. We have only ever seen 2 of these Hoover electric boilers, this one had a one-pipe central heating system installed, so when we replaced this hoover boiler with a Heatrae Sadia boiler we had to install a second return pipe to all the radiators.
