Autonomous driving calls for a complete rethink regarding HMIs. In level 2+ vehicles and above, time spent of holding a steering wheel will decrease. The driver will be able to lean back and focus on other things to do too, besides driving. Seats and door trims will become important HMIs as they are always closest to the driver. While conventional capacitive touch sensors have limitations regarding form factor, Canatu CNB sensors can be 3D formed in any shape.
