We Are Spiritual Beings Having A Human Experience | Yoga Wisdom with Gopala Dasi

The new moon is a time of new beginnings and can remind us to make more of a commitment in our daily life. Every day we can try to remember:

I am an eternal spiritual being and I’m just here temporarily.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience. We should make sure we don’t get caught up in and identify with this temporary role we are playing. In the material world we get so caught up in our life, we find it difficult to step back and see the whole picture. When you are a little kid on a see saw, sometimes you are up and sometimes you are down. It is really hard to try and balance it.

We have this amazing vehicle, this body that we are travelling around in and it is really important to remember that this is not actually me. When we identify with this body and our temporary roles, we are going to try and fill that gap. The soul is craving for a deep and lasting and blissfully happy relationship. That is a spiritual relationship with the Supreme Soul.

“If you realise your eternal nature, you must seek out your eternal interests. You begin to consider the need for an eternal home and even more important, the need for an eternal friend and beloved. No one is more lovable that the Supreme Soul. God is the most attractive being. More attractive than all the beautiful women, handsome men and cute children combined, so it is not very difficult to aim one’s affection towards him.”

The process of Kirtan meditation is a simple cleansing process to help reawaken that dormant relationship that is there in the core of every ones’ heart. When we don’t know our true spiritual identity, then our nature to serve becomes perverted to serving our mind, our senses and our desires. There is false hope that they will bring me satisfaction and happiness and peace. When we understand we are a spiritual being we know, I need to take care of and nourish our true spiritual nature.
