Hollow Knight - Boss - Brooding Mawlek (No Damage)

Hollow Knight is a 2017 Metroidvania video game developed and published by Australian independent studio Team Cherry. The player controls a nameless silent insectoid warrior known as the Knight, exploring Hallownest, a fallen underground kingdom plagued by a supernatural disease called the Infection. Originally released for Windows on February 24, 2017, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game later launched on macOS and Linux in April 2017, on Nintendo Switch in June 2018, and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition on September 25, 2018. An updated version with graphical enhancements for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S was released on February 5, 2026, advertised as Hollow Knight: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The game is a 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania where the Knight wields a sword-like Nail and learns spells, faces over 140 enemies and 30 bosses, and navigates a vast interconnected hand-drawn world featuring beautifully painted landscapes and a haunting orchestral score composed by Christopher Larkin. The game features a Charm system that allows extensive customization, multiple endings depending on player actions, and the unlockable Steel Soul Mode where dying is permanent. Four free DLC expansions were released after launch: Hidden Dreams, The Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, and Godmaster. Hollow Knight was well received by critics, with particular praise for its music, art style, worldbuilding, atmosphere, combat, and difficulty, and has since been regarded by some critics as one of the greatest games of all time, having sold more than 15 million copies. A sequel following the character Hornet, Hollow Knight: Silksong, was released in 2025.
