One Wiring Mistake Ruined This Atari 7800 Restoration

My friends Atari 7800 composite mod didn’t go to plan.
After removing the RF modulator and wiring up the new composite video output, It ended up with a noisy, colorless picture — and absolutely no sound.

In this video, I walk through the full troubleshooting process:

Checking the video signal on an oscilloscope

Finding bad grounding and missing filtering capacitors

Discovering that one wrong wire completely broke the mod

Fixing the mistake and restoring clean video and audio

Along the way, I explain how the PAL Atari 7800’s video circuit works, what those little Styroflex capacitors do, and how to pick good replacements (like NP0 ceramics).

If you’re thinking about doing a composite mod or restoring a noisy 7800, this video might save you a lot of time!
