Pastor Kenneth Pearman - 23rd Anniversary - Reaching Out For Jesus Christian Center

I was invited by a member Deborah Williams and her family to attend the pastor's anniversary at the Reaching Out For Jesus Christian Center where Pastor Kenneth Pearman is the Senior Pastor. Throughout the week as the day approached, I was at a point of uncertainty about attending because of my workload. I went to bed on Saturday night without plans to be there. At 4 am, my spirit was awakened and had me prepare to get on the road to be there for the 11 am service.

It was about a 1.75 hour leisurely drive from my home in NJ to ROFJCC. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted my the members and Pastor Pearman and his family, mother Madie, sister Natasha and niece Diedra. After speaking with them for a few minutes, I sat towards the front of the church, my favorite spot.

The morning began with devotional prayer by several members, each taking their appointed time respectively before the congregation. After they were completed we began our praise and worship as the choir and praise dancers anointed us with their gifts. They twilled the worship banners and proclaimed we "Break Every Chain" as they threw their sunken props to the floor.

I asked Pastor Pearman for five "Baptist" minutes to make a brief presentation. Before I started I wanted to bless the congregation with some additional praise and worship music that I had on a CD. I played Marvin Sapp' "Glory" as sung by our choir and praise team and asked the congregation to stand and praise as the song played throughout the sanctuary - they truly enjoyed the selection. I prepared about 100 CD's (after I woke up at 4 am until the minute I left to get on the road) to pass out to the members after the service and they were overjoyed.

I made a love offering to Pastor Pearman as well as a matching gift to a ROFJCC member whom I later identified as a deserving for her community work to help those less fortunate. I also presented Pastor Pearman with a plaque to honor his dedication to the prayer line and the New Birth family for his steadfast commitment.

In a brief message, I was drawn to the scripture Hanukkah 2:2-3. I reminded them that 2014 is right around the corner and its not too early to prepare for the new season that we will be delivered to. "With preparation comes a plan and not just any plan. A plan should be written down and most importantly, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail."

I witnessed the glory of God in the ministry at ROFJCC as spirits we touched, healings were manifested and a soul gave his life to Christ that day! I had an opportunity to further fellowship with the congregation as we all gathered to break bread during member and auxiliary presentations to Pastor Pearman.
