FORD Intermittent Spongy brake pedal solve using Forscan

Wanted to give an overview of the process to swap out an ABS pump and module and dispel some myths and wives tails cornering the internet. Many people think that just jamming on the brakes can dislodge air in the system, far from the truth! There may be broken hoses, bad calipers, air not bled, etc. Sometimes there is air left between the inlet valve and the dump valve with the ABS pump or a malfunction within the solenoid valve being left stuck partially left open. ABS issues are somewhat complex and usually require an advanced reader. There may be an issue with a wheel sensor or even the pump and ABS module itself. Heat and age are the most prevalent issues that effect the system. Many foreign particles can get stuck in the pump causing odd issues. Brake fluid should be changed out within a 2 year period or more! Always isolate the Master cylinder before condemning unit and if tested make sure to bleed the ENTIRE system!
