Safety Assurance of AI-enabled Robotic Systems
Abstract: AI is enabling new kids of robotic systems that are often safety critical, such as commercial space cleaning robots, autonomous cars, and autonomous agricultural equipment. Assuring their safety is a major challenge. This talk will give an overview of emerging methods for safety assurance of such systems.
Speaker Bio: Krzysztof Czarnecki is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he heads the Waterloo Intelligent Systems Engineering (WISE) Laboratory. He is a leading expert in the safety of AI-enabled robotic systems, with a focus on perception and decision-making functions. He also serves on ISO and UL standard committees related to safety assurance of automated driving and autonomous products.
