Here I present an album of photographs of the Siberian city of Yakutsk.
The city is the capital of the Sakha Republic and is located only 450 km south of the Arctic Circle on the River Lena. The city was founded in 1632 as a military outpost and a fort was erected by Pyotr Beketov. However the city remained small until the discovery of large reserves of gold and other minerals in the 1880s and 1890s……..
