Doug shows foster Nico that cork bark can be fun.

I caught Doug and Nico hanging out earlier today, apparently bonding over a few shared love of shredding cork bark.

It's been really cool watching Nico slowly find his place among all the birds here. For a bird that came from a situation with very little socialization, I genuinely think being around a flock is helping him remember how to be a bird again.

That said, I'm still being careful. Senegals aren't typically known for being especially bird-friendly, and I've seen Nico show a little too much interest in my sun conure. To be fair, she's also incredibly dramatic, but for everyone's safety they don't get out-of-cage time together.
Other than that, Nico has been doing surprisingly well with everyone else and continues to make progress every day.
