Aerobic, Anaerobic, Anoxic & Facultative processes
Aerobic, Anaerobic, Anoxic & Facultative processes are the processes widely used in water & wastewater treatment.
Aerobic, Anaerobic, Anoxic & Facultative all processes are biological treatment processes, where Aerobic (oxic) process is a biological treatment process that occurs in presence of oxygen.Anaerobic is biological treatment process that occurs in absence of oxygen. Anoxic means depletion of deficiency of oxygen. Facultative process is a biological treatment process in which organism can function in the presence or absence of molecular oxygen.
These Aerobic, Anaerobic, Anoxic & Facultative processes are mainely three types; suspended growth, attached growth and combined growth process. Some examples are MBBR, FBR, Activated sludge process, UASB, Sludge blanket etc.
