PELOSI SPEAKS AMID RACE TO PASS COVID RELIEF BILL: Speaker Nancy Pelosi holds a press conference following her meeting with Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin yesterday to negotiate the next coronavirus relief bill. The two met for over 90 minutes yesterday, where RollCall reports Mnuchin offered Pelosi a $1.62 trillion proposal. No del was reached. House Democrats initially planned to vote on an adjusted $2.2T relief package last night, but Pelosi held off the vote in order to continue negotiations. Mnuchin has said that the two have reached agreements on additional direct payments to Americans, small business loans, and aid to airlines; however, their disagreements stem from how much money should be allocated to state and local governments, funding for K-12 schools, and a GOP-desired liability shield for businesses.
