Live outside London court as Assange extradition trial hearings conclude

Ruptly is live from outside the Old Bailey Criminal Court in London on Thursday, October 1, on the last day of Julian Assange’s extradition trial hearings.

Final evidence in the case is due to be submitted to the court by Thursday, following which Assange defence will have 4 weeks to prepare a written closing argument and the prosecution will have 2 weeks to prepare theirs. The decision on the extradition request is set to be announced next year.

The WikiLeaks co-founder has been behind bars in Belmarsh Prison since he was dragged out of the Ecuadorian Embassy in April 2019. He faces multiple charges in the US related to espionage.
