Australia's most evil killers: The Janine Balding case. Solved. In 1988 the Janine Balding case shocked Australia. Five street kids, the youngest being just 14 years old, committed unspeakable acts against 20 year old Janine. A 14 and a 16 year old were jailed for life. They remain in jail today- a point of contention, 30 years later, for many familiar with this case.
