Welcome to the final Episode of the series. Thailand's Top Luxury Hotels.

Today we Visit Koh Chang and Koh Kood which is a very small beautiful island just a short boat trip from Koh Chang, it has one of the most exclusive hotels I have ever visited.

Koh Chang is approx 4 hours drive from Bangkok via car and car ferry, or 1 hour by Air and Speedboat from Bangkok.

As with all of this series, these hotels are my top 5, not related to any official rankings from travel sites.This is not paid promotion.

Ko Chang, one of the largest Thai islands in the Gulf of Thailand, contains dense, steep jungle.

Mu Ko Chang National Park, a preserve with hiking trails and waterfalls such as tiered Klong Plu, covers the interior and extends to offshore coral reefs.

The coast is dotted with beaches and villages including Bang Bao, built on piers.

Hat Tha Nam (aka Lonely Beach) has a waterfront party scene that attracts backpackers.

With steep, jungle-covered peaks, picturesque Ko Chang (Elephant Island) retains its remote and rugged spirit – despite attempts to transform it into a package-tour destination.

Sweeping bays are sprinkled along the west coast; most have super-fine sand, some have pebbles.

Because of its relative remoteness, it is only in the last 20 years or so that tourists – and 24-hour electricity – have arrived.

Today, it is still a slog to get here, but the resorts are now busy with Chinese package tourists, Cambodian-bound backpackers and beach-hopping couples funnelling through to more remote islands in the Mu Ko Chang National Marine Park.

Along the populous west coast are virtual mini-towns with a standard of living that has outpaced the island’s infrastructure.

For a taste of old-school Chang, head to the southeastern villages and mangrove forests of Ban Salak Phet and Ban Salak Kok.
