Common Canning Tools & Supplies Needed for Home Canning and How to Use Them

When starting out in home canning and preserving there are tools and supplies you’ll need to properly can food safely and easily. In this video Annette Thurmon reviews common canning tools and supplies, plus shows us how to properly use them. Some of the featured tools are:

Waterbath Canner or Pot - pot deep enough to completely cover jars in boiling water.
Canning Rack - elevates jars so they don’t touch the bottom of the pot.
Bubble Remover - a non-metallic utensil used to free air bubbles in the jar.
Jar Lifter - gripping tool that lifts jars in and out of boiling water.
Funnel - a tool placed on the mouth of the jar to easily pour ingredients into the jar.
