New 2024 Lexus LBX - Best Hybrid Small Luxury Crossover SUV

The new Lexus LBX is based on the TNGA-B platform that also underpins the Toyota Yaris Cross. The body size of the new LBX is 4,190mm in length, 1,825mm in width, 1,560mm in height, and 2,580mm in wheelbase.

Design-wise, the LBX retains most Lexus features. The front of the LBX features a minimalist headlight design. There is an accent that runs from left to right, and the air intake is recessed into the bumper. This design language seems similar to Lexus' latest SUV, the RX. From the side, the design of the Lexus LBX is very different from that of the Yaris Cross. In contrast to the rounded Yaris Cross, the LBX's character lines look sharper.

The rear of the LBX features LED taillights that run from left to right. There is also a Lexus logo in the middle. The SUV comes standard with 17-inch wheels, which can be upgraded to 18-inch wheels.

The interior of the Lexus LBX focuses on the driver. The LBX comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. Also standard is a 9.8-inch infotainment screen with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Lexus once again partnered with Mark Levinson, who provides a 13-speaker sound system that includes a subwoofer. The Lexus LBX also has a 332-liter trunk.

The Lexus LBX is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline hybrid powertrain that produces 134 hp and 185 Nm and is mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The electric powertrain allows the LBX to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds.

The LBX's electric motor draws power from a new bipolar nickel metal hydride battery that can charge and discharge faster than traditional NIMH batteries. Lexus is also working on an all-wheel-drive version of the LBX, which will add another motor to the rear axle.
