How to Change ONU Display Name in BDCOM GPON OLT | CLI & Web GUI Configuration Tutorial | GP3600-B

In this video, you’ll learn how to change the ONU Display Name (ONU Description) using both the CLI and the Web GUI on a BDCOM GPON OLT.
This is a simple but extremely useful task for organizing, identifying, and managing ONUs in your GPON network—especially in large ISP deployments.

✔ How to access the GPON OLT via CLI (Console/SSH/Telnet)
✔ How to navigate to a specific ONU interface
✔ How to configure an ONU display name using:
• gpon onu description command
✔ How to verify the description using:
• show gpon onu-description
✔ How to change the display name using the Web GUI
✔ Where to find the “Port Description” field
✔ Why saving the configuration is essential
✔ Display Name character limitations (32 chars, allowed symbols, restrictions)
🖥️ Key GUI Steps:
Log in to OLT Web Interface
Go to ONU Configuration
Select GPON port
Choose target ONU
Enter display name in Port Description
Click Apply
Save configuration
📝 Important Notes:
ONU description supports up to 32 characters
Accepts alphanumeric and symbol characters
Does NOT accept:
❌ Space
❌ Slash
❌ Semicolon
❌ Colon
