AI Music Lab opens in Hualien as a virtual studio and performance space|Taiwan News
"Inspire the world by singing your song" is the motto of the newly established Hualien AI Music Lab, and there was indeed lots of singing at its opening ceremony over the weekend. The music lab employs FedGPT, which can analyze pop music videos with its 100-billion-file database. In the future, visitors will be greeted by AI-generated singers Hui Jia and Hua Lan, who will be performing on a regular basis.
Employing the traditional singing style of the Amis people, singer Ado, who is the new operations director of Hualien AI Music Lab, sings together with an AI-generated voice. If you close your eyes and listen, you can’t tell the human sound from the machine.
The lab’s music director, Suming, also sang with his AI counterpart. Some of the music industry’s heavyweight musicians like Lim Giong, Li Jian-fu, Coco Fang and Li Ming-de all turned up for the opening ceremony of the music lab.

Amis song writer/singer
The conventional wisdom of our ancestors is our weapon. We will embrace the future with Taiwan’s most proud new technology.

The human voice can be synthesized, and when we want to play it back, we can have AI generate the venue.
Hualien AI Music Lab can analyze any of Taiwan’s pop music videos that are contained in its database. Taking up two floors in a century-old building in the former Hualien winery, the music lab uses FedGPT as its core technology, which has a database of more than 100 billion training models. AI-generated singers Hui Jia and Hua Lan, who were created by Taiwan AI Labs using the voices of real singers, will be performing here.
Sue Wang
Vice Culture Minister
This space that we have created, in addition to the performance space, is very important. It can be a recording space. It has group practice rooms, classrooms for discussion and teaching.
Dorothy Wang
FTV president
I think this place is wonderful. I didn’t expect it to turn out so well. We worked hard to build it, and now we have a virtual studio. Everything is connected. I am full of hope for the future.
The music lab combines AI technology with local resources, serving as a shared space where music creators, students, and local residents can come together and experience technology and culture. It will also likely become a new tourist destination in the east coast city.
