Landscape Photography, WHY? and Meeting Thomas Heaton - In this video I capture my favourite image so far this year.

Last week my very good friend John and I travelled up to Fife to photograph St Monans Pier. Fife is located on the South East coast of Scotland. Commonly known as the Kingdom of Fife (Wikipedia)

760 miles seems a massive undertaking for one image? Well, the timings last week fell just right for the conditions I really wanted to shoot the pier. A high Tide, a sunrise and of course the favourable weather.

I managed to persuade John my great pal of 30+ plus years to participate in my adventure. There was a slight issue though. On the 11th hour, John had an emergency call-out in Wales. This was so unlucky due to the planning I had already undertaken. (well sort of!) Since great pals shouldn't let each other down I decided to travel to Wales to help him out. Job sorted, let's head off to Scotland. OK, so why is this even getting a mention?... Since I live in Yorkshire it meant travelling copious amounts of miles South only to head North again. Eight hours of John driving later, we were there! He wouldn't stop talking all the way there which was really annoying because I couldn't get any shut-eye. Some friend huh? :)

I've been after this shot for so long I was super-excited when I actually arrived at the Pier. It looked awesome!

I had a sore throat a few days leading up to our trip which meant I could talk. I wasn't going to let that stop me vlogging though. This is why I did a talk-over throughout the video. I don't thing Attenborough needs to worry about his job!
