Retire early with dividend investing

For years my wife and I have hoped and planned to become financially independent so that we could retire early from our day jobs. Retiring earlier with dividend investing has been our primary focus these past few years. In this video, I talk about how we came up with a detailed plan to retire earlier off of our dividend growth portfolio.

My wife and I put together a plan to achieve financial independence in 5 years instead of 8 years. Below are things that we considered as well as our plan to achieve this.

Things we considered when coming up with a plan to retire early faster
1. Understand the rule of 72
2. Understand your goal (Growth vs Value)
3. Increase your savings rate
4. How we increased our savings rate (cut consumer debt, lower our expenses, find new ways to earn more money)
5. Understand inflation and optimize for tax efficiency

Our plan
1. Multipronged approach (Core and Satellite)
2. Investment accounts
Taxable accounts (Growth and Value focused portfolios)
Tax advantaged accounts (Skewed towards growth VGT/VTI but also have VXUS and VNQ)
3. Aggressively fund our high dividend portfolio from the growth from our real estate appreciation (This could have been substituted with growth ETFs if we didn't own real estate)
4. Long-term we want to use our growth from real estate and growth ETFs to build a home in the mountains
