Dr. Rubana Huq uncovers the transformative stories of three inspiring women who defied challenges in the garment sector to become female empowerment pioneers as anecdotes of extraordinary journeys from being garment workers to becoming university graduates. These extraordinary women now aspire to break barriers as garment factory owners themselves, challenging societal norms. Dr. Huq poses critical questions about the forces propelling them—Is it a "poverty push" or an "opportunity pull"? Explored against the backdrop of feminism's evolving landscape, her talk delves into the struggles and triumphs of these resilient women.
Dr. Rubana Huq, a dynamic and accomplished leader, serves as the Vice Chancellor of Asian University for Women, steering the future of education. Her remarkable journey includes breaking barriers as the first female President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in four decades.

She is the Chairperson of Mohammadi Group, a family business conglomerate whose journey began exporting readymade garments, and has since diversified software, digital distribution, real estate, power generation and media.

Internationally recognized, she featured in the BBC 100 Women list (2013 & 2014) and received the 'Human Rights Award' at the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards during Milan Fashion Week in 2022, highlighting her dedication to sustainable fashion.
