LIL HARDIN (Mrs. Armstrong but more than that) Jazz History #14
Lil Hardin is best known as the wife and mentor of Louis Armstrong, but she was an accomplished pianist in her own right, and a female instrumentalist at a time when that was a real uphill climb. Her story is not as well known as it should be, but her place in jazz history is an important one.
