Prince Rama Varma - Informal Concert - 2019 - Dangurava Saarirayya - Purandaradasa

In what has become an annual feature, Prince Rama Varma brings a magnificent gift to the residents of Trivandrum (and nowadays, to all his admirers all over the world through youtube) each January, in the form of an "Informal Concert" where he brings to light several rare and beautiful compositions by a whole range of composers, from people like Annamacharya and Purandara Dasa who lived 600 years ago, to contemporary compositions, even from the 21st century!
Apart from the songs, Varma ji provides so many wonderful insights into the background of the compositions, the lives of the composers, the meanings of the lyrics and so on, which makes this the top favourite event in the calendar of many of Varma ji's fans.
This year, Varma ji was accompanied by Sri S.R.Vinu, Sri B.Harikumar, Adichanalloor Sri Anilkumar, Payyannur Sri Govindaprasad and Sri Ananthapadmanabhan.
Purandaradasa comes yet again, with the rare and upbeat composition in Raga Mayamalavagowla, where a few of Sri Adichanallur Anilkumar's and his wife Vidushi Geetha's students join in.
