World renowned composer and Roundstone resident Bill Whelan’s new original composition, ‘Samhlú’ which premiered on TG4 15th December 2020.

Set on a little street, on the edge of the world, Samhlú 2020 celebrates a year like no other, in a bold and unprecedented way. Led by Tommy Tiernan, this magical setting erupts into performances from every artform.

This production was awarded Winner of MOST ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE award at the at PRIX CIRCOM 2021, the awards for Europe's regional public service broadcasters'.

Samhlú is a landmark cultural showcase to celebrate the artistic endeavours and creativity that have endured throughout Ireland despite a very challenging year. COVID-19 with its wide-ranging restrictions on public gatherings has had a significant impact on the arts, culture and entertainment worlds.
