The Villisca Axe Murders (1912) | America's Most Chilling Unsolved Murder

One night... eight people were murdered... and the killer was never found.

On June 10, 1912, the Moore family and two young guests returned home after church in Villisca, Iowa. By morning, all eight had been murdered with an axe inside their own home.

Despite a lengthy investigation, multiple suspects, and years of speculation, no one was ever convicted. More than a century later, the Villisca Axe Murders remain one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history.

Today, the Villisca Axe Murder House still attracts visitors, with some reporting unexplained sounds and other unusual experiences. While these reports are part of local lore, the identity of the killer remains a historical mystery.
