The idea to open a restaurant on the road came from the entrepreneur Walter Schrepfer in the 1960s. The rest stop on a lake in the canton of Glarus was once the first in Switzerland and inspired numerous imitators. Travellers from all over Switzerland who had to travel from Zurich towards Graubünden or back treated themselves to a coffee break, with a view of Switzerland's highest waterfall. Residents of the region also met regularly to sit together in comfort. The famous Poulet im Chörbli, which was added to the menu in the 90s, brought additional success to the restaurant. But despite all the successes of the last century, the peak times are now finally over, the house has had its day and was already officially closed in 2003. Since then, the building has been left to its fate for 20 years and the chances of it reopening are very poor.
