“Ola Nā Kupa ʻĀina” - Kapua Perkins & Kamaka Camarillo

Kapua Perkins, a talented vocalist and part of our Executive Team here at Mana Maoli, and Mana Maoli Collective Artists Kamaka Camarillo share “Ola Nā Kupa ʻĀina” to celebrate Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.

Pua shares:
He mea hoʻolaʻa kēia mele no koʻu makuakāne ʻo Shaney Boy a me ko Kamaka kupunakāne ʻo ʻAnakala Square, he mau poʻe aloha ʻāina nō hoʻi.

Kamaka and I would like to dedicate this mele to my dad, Shaney Boy, and Kamaka's grandpa, Uncle Square, who were great examples of aloha ʻāina to us and those who knew them. Though they are no longer with us, their legacy of aloha ʻāina continues on.
Inā ʻaʻole ʻoe i lohe mua, he mele ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi kēia e hoʻohana ana i ke ea o ke mele "Is This Love" na Bob Marley.
If you haven't heard this rendition before, it is a Hawaiian language version of the song "Is This Love" by Bob Marley.
E ola ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi!
Mahalo hoʻi to #ManaMele kumu Nakana Wong (stand-up bass), Elisha Camacho (keyboard) and Christian Taum (drums) for sharing this beautiful mele. An additional mahalo to Elijah Perkins for filming and editing this video.
