Three Choirs Festival Concert: Hereford (1927)
This set of four HMV discs constituted the first-ever recording of the Three Choirs Festival. The photograph shows the HMV mobile recording van outside of Hereford Cathedral making this actual recording. The concert featured the cathedral choirs of Hereford, Worcester & Gloucester, with the London Symphony Orchestra and soloists Horace Stevens, Margaret Balfour and Tudor Davies, conducted (with the exception of the Brewer item) by Sir Edward Elgar.
