Written by Allen Toussaint under the pseudonym, Naomi Neville, Ruler Of My Heart, was released in 1963 on the Imperial label by Irma Thomas. Although it failed to chart nationally, the song was the basis for Otis Redding's hit, Pain In My Heart, which followed it in 1964.
