Closer Than Close - Stylistics - 1981

Now operating as a quartet, the Stylistics entered the 1980's by reuniting with their Philadelphia songwriting roots after five years with non-Philly songwriters and producers. The result was a comeback of sorts highlighted by their 1980 hit, Hurry Up This Way Again. Their follow up was an excellent album released on the TSOP label in 1981 titled, Closer Than Close. The title track was written by Preston Glass, Alan Glass, Linda Creed, and Thom Bell and it features Russell Thompkins Jr.'s beautiful lead vocal, reminiscent of the group's early 1970's output.
