Geri Halliwell: "I needed the Spice Girls to be my family after my Dad died."
Geri Halliwell-Horner the Spice Girls icon who went on to release the solo hits 'It's Raining Men', 'Mi Chico Ladino' and 'Look at Me' opens up about dealing with grief, bullying, loneliness and finding a family in her fellow Spice Girls Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B after her father died on the latest episode of my podcast, 'Reign' as she promotes her new book, 'Rosie Frost and The Falcon Queen.' Listen to the full episode here: http://hyperurl.co/i4yxt0
Since 1996 Geri Halliwell has been part of our lives as a Spice girl, solo artist, activist, former yoga instructor to the world (remember that!) joins me in the studio to talk about her latest venture, her TENTH book 'Rosie Frost and Falcon Queen'. To be honest, for years the only book I had read cover to cover was her first autobiography - a classic - and this is just as much as a page turner!
Geri shares many powerful words on her experiences with bullying, loneliness and about grief after loosing her father early on in life. She also opens up about feeling the pressure to tick off 'personal goals' during her 30s and how she didn't find love through relationships but the gay men in her life filled that void.
Geri also reveals she never wanted to release 'Scream if you want to go faster' which is such a great lesson in listening to your own thoughts and voice. But what I love most about this episode is Geri’s words on friendship and making friends as adults, because if you wannabe my lover, you gotta get with my friends, babes!
If you love this chat with Geri just as much as I do, please get in touch, because I always love talking to you and you can find me across social media on the handle @joshsmithhosts. I always LOVE talking to you! Don't forget to come back next Tuesday for the final episode this season which is a Christmas special with Hannah Waddingham! And you can listen to the full Geri Halliwell interview wherever you get your podcasts, too. Until next time keep reigning queens, Love Josh xx
