Admiral Yamamoto's G4M1 Betty Bomber Wreckage on Bougainville (2018)

A visit to the crash site of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto's G4M1 Betty 2656 on southern Bougainville, near Kokopo Village. The plane was shot down by Rex Barber on April 18, 1943. Filmed by me on April 16, 2018.

This 75th Anniversary expedition by Pacific Wrecks to document the crash site was generously funded by Mr. Richard Portillo as an extension of the Portillo-funded commemorative Faulkner expedition to Bougainville in 2015 on which a gold tooth was discovered in the wreckage by Prof. Anderson Giles prompting further investigation about the possibility of the tooth belonging to Yamamoto.
