Foshan Diejiao is without doubt one of the best places to watch Dragon Boat racing in the world! The event is sponsored by Formula 1, and the teams all have to sail around bends at high speed on a very narrow waterway! It’s so exciting to watch! There’s always a big risk of a dragon boat crash into the wall, and some boats even capsize. Regardless, the teams all race as fast as possible to be the best team and win against their competitors. 

Besides being a competition, there’s also a huge cultural and historical significance to Dragon Boat festival, and the races celebrate the Chinese ancient past. In this mini documentary I explore for myself the real Dragon boat story in English, meet the people who craft the dragon’s head and tail, the supporters of each boat team, set off firecrackers, and experience this thrilling Chinese festival for myself.
