My Spring Festival in China!

Join me as I tell my story of how I celebrated Spring Festival / Chinese New Year 2023 in the countryside of Chongqing, China for the first time. I've experienced spring festival in the UK many times, because every year there are celebrations in Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, London, and many other cities around the UK. There are usually events like lion dancing, dragon dancing, street performances, live stage performances, stalls selling Chinese & other Asian food, crafts, rhyming couplets, lanterns, etc. The atmosphere is usually very lively and exciting!

However, I was so excited to have the opportunity to celebrate with local people in their hometowns. It's a very different vibe, and involves a lot more eating! Many younger Chinese people have left the countryside to go to the cities to find work, so Spring festival is often the only time they can go back home to visit their family. It's so nice to see the whole family back together again during this special time. Hope I can go back again next year!
