Skills to Resolve Conflict: Moving from Positions to Interests
Today, we look at a key conflict resolution skill, that is, how you move from arguing your position to eliciting and discussing the underlying interests. Drawing from the work of Fischer and Ury, founders of the Harvard Negotiation Project and the authors of the classic "Getting to Yes," I explain and illustrate how one moves from positions to interests using both an historical example and one from my organizational development work with a client just this past week.
