Fuerteventura #02: Betancuria. Aguas Verdes

One of the most interesting roads in Fuerteventura is the one that goes from Betancuria to Pájara. It is a mountain road, with many curves and an attractive landscape. In the limit of the municipalities of Betancuria and Pájara, there is a viewpoint, located at 426 meters high - Mirador Risco de las Peñas. Besides beautiful views, there is a lot of squirrels which you can feed :)

Betancuria is a small town in the western part of the island of Fuerteventura. The former capital of the island appears to have changed very little since it was established in 1404. The original church bell tower of Santa Maria de la Concepción still stands today.

The west coast with its rougher seas hides some incredible treasures for those seeking something entirely different. Aguas Verdes, in Betancuria, is one such treasure and is a perfect example of the many unspoilt natural pools found in the Canary Islands.
